Breaking: Major Cybersecurity Attack Targets Global Banking Systems

A sophisticated and coordinated cyberattack has targeted banking systems across 30 countries in what cybersecurity experts are calling the largest financial sector attack in history. The attack, which began in the early hours of today, has affected at least 50 major financial institutions.

Central banks in affected countries have issued emergency statements assuring customers that deposits are protected, though some online banking services have been temporarily suspended as a precaution. The attack appears to target SWIFT messaging systems and interbank transfer protocols, though the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.

Cybersecurity firm Mandiant, which is leading the response effort, has identified the attack as originating from a sophisticated state-sponsored group. "This is not the work of common cybercriminals," said their chief analyst. "The level of coordination and technical sophistication suggests nation-state involvement."
